June 2016 - Universal Crane Mats Ltd         Vertikal Days - Haydock

Nice to see so many famiar faces again this year. It was also a real pleasure to meet those new customers of the future and many thanks for taking the time to stop by our stand.

Highlights for us this year were;

Office Administrator Jamielee making her Vertikal debut and enjoying it so much a sales career could be in the making!

A fellow mat producer referring to our exclusive UniMat product as looking "Absolutely Mint" on the stand. If only they looked the same when returned from hire :-)

An MOD engineer taking considerable time to discuss specific load spread requirements which we are now progressing.

So many customers expressing gratitude for our hire services. Nice to put faces to names and share a little "down" time so to speak.

Finally...we can't avoid mentioning the Vertikal Monsoon which descended in the afternoon of day 2! Stilettoe clad ladies scampering through the puddles, England fans celebrating the goals against Wales shielding beneath gazebos and of course the drowned rat stand dismantling!

All good fun and can't wait for next year when the exhibition moves to Silverstone...hope to see you there 24th - 25th May 2017

May / June 2015 - Universal Crane Mats Ltd Launch New Range of Load Spread Products at Vertikal Days - Haydock and Plantworx - Bruntingthorpe

UniMat Aluminium Modular Load Spread System

Azobe (Ekki) Tropical Hardwood Sleeper System

A busy exhibition season for the load spread specialist family business.
Again it was our absolute pleasure to meet so many existing customers & potential new ones to discuss our ever expanding product range.
Our customers were delighted to finally see in the flesh two exciting new additions to the fold.

We are really pleased with our new UniMat aluminium system. It has been painstakingly designed with site robustness, flexural / compressive strength and ease of manual handling at the forefront of the agenda.

Our focus has resulted in a mat which will serve our hire customers' needs perfectly for many years to come. A mat that will satisfy our demanding hire stock criteria, will also prove popular with those customers who prefer to purchase rather than hire.

The Azobe (Ekki) Sleepers offer a cost effective levelling solution and load spread option for lesser outrigger loads. Also available for hire and sale, the sleepers appeal to traditionalists. They are considered "far too nice to throw around a construction site" by some exhibition visitors!

Great to see you all again and we look forward to being of assistance as and when you may need us.

Kindest regards,

The Universal Crane Mats Team:  Nick, Dom, John & Mike.

The above forum posting is very interesting and thought provoking.

It represents a good cross section of industry opinion on this topic and highlights the wide range of methodology applied to the sizing of mats.

1st July 2013 - Vertikal Days Exhibition highlights our extending product range

Father and two son team enjoy an extremely busy exhibition.
It was a pleasure to meet so many of our existing customers & potential new ones to discuss our ever extending product range.
Dom Allanson joined brother Nick and Father Mike in what was his first time exhibiting for the family run company. "I really enjoyed engaging with customers. It helps to put a face to the name and we got some very positive feedback about our products and services" beamed Dom. Older brother Nick who was at Vertikal for his second year running commented on the much improved industry positivity compared to a year earlier. "It definitely felt more upbeat this year, the atmosphere was much more positive and hopefully signals the worst of the recession is behind us".
Many thanks to everyone for the valuable feedback and encouragement received at the show. We hope to be of excellent service to you all in the months and years ahead.

19th April 2012 - IPAF step up their Spread The Load campaign by launching spreader plate guidance...the “Ready Reckoner Conversion Tool”

IPAF have launched an interactive tool designed to offer guidance to operators and those involved in determining the size of spreader plates to be used when setting up a boom-type MEWP where the weight will be fully supported on the outriggers / jack legs. After the gross weight of the MEWP has been entered, the ready reckoner will display the minimum area of the spreader plates required for differing ground types and strengths.

Below is a link to IPAF’s website for the new tool;

The pdf below offers a summary of the guidance. Please feel free to contact us with any queries you may have regarding your load spread requirements having reviewed the IPAF guidance.
